There really is a huge range of activities available in the Dolomites during the summer and at all levels. There are family-based hiking tours, mountain and road bike tours and even a host of gourmet food hikes.
Staying in Arabba puts you right in the middle of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site, so the scenery is wonderful and yours to explore.
Arabba is one of the 12 resorts making up the ski domain known as the Dolomiti Superski consisting of 1200 kilometres of ski runs, 460 lifts accessed by a modern chip skipass.
The Dolomiti ski area has something for everyone and includes the famous Sella Ronda, Marmolada, lost valley as well as countless breath-taking runs and boasts a fantastic snow record. The modern lift infrastructure ensures rapid access to the slopes, where there is enough variety to keep beginners through to experts happy. The area is famed for its great value mountain restaurants, serving some of the finest food you’ll find anywhere. And like everywhere in Italy, children are especially welcomed.
Chalet Helen is a cosy and traditional style, wood clad abode offering a great choice of apartments to suit smaller and larger groups. Every apartment has at least one balcony to take in the views, and with a choice of 10, 9, 6, 6 and 4 bedroom apartments you can enjoy the fully loaded kitchen, a lounge and dining area.
Most bedrooms are en suite (apart from two) and there is a, very welcome, boot and ski room with fully heated ski boot dryer to ensure a comfortable next-day ski.
Skiing can be exhausting business, and there’s nothing better than relaxing at lunchtime or at the end of the day in one of Arabba’s plentiful eateries, whether an à la carte ristorante or a mountainside refugio.
One of our favourites, on the home run, is Plan Boé. Here you will be welcomed by lederhosen-attired bar folk, oompahing jovially to the music in traditional après-ski style! Or, after you’ve had a hot shower, it would be rude not to slip over the road to Bar Heidi for a relaxing tipple… A chic little bar run by a traditional Italian family. What more could you want?
